The Dirty South are a Southern Rock tribute band based in and around Tyne and Wear.
We have been around for some 10 years or so now and have enjoyed playing a number of great events across the region.
The band has a set list based heavily in the golden era of Southern Rock, largely around the songs of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot, although we also cover more recent material such as ZZ Top and Steve Earle.
Named after a Drive-by-Truckers album, The Dirty South have deliberatley set out to try and play a style of music that, although popular, hasn’t been covered by many of the region’s bands, apart from “Freebird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” obviously. We do occasionally have to play those ones too. We prefer not to.
As of yet, we don’t play any tracks off the album we took our name from. That will change eventually.
